About Toni Watterson
Toni Watterson is an actor and playwright based in New York City. She received a BA in Theater Arts from Sarah Lawrence College in 2022, and is currently enrolled in a year-long training program at The Barrow Group.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I moved out to NYC exactly three weeks after graduating from Sarah Lawrence, wasting no time whatsoever to jump into the acting world. I began acting when I was 14, having been reluctantly cast in the required 8th grade play and finding myself quickly falling in love with the process of creating a character and building a world in real time. From there, I grabbed at every opportunity I could find- from my high school’s annual lineup to the community theater group at the Epispocal church to the local one-act festivals.
As I’ve continued to develop myself as a performer, I’ve discovered that the stories that tend to resonate with me the most are those of characters who are often misunderstood, whether due to mental illness, an inability to properly communicate, or a preconceived bias held by the other party. My aim is to portray these characters with the care, complexity, and attention to detail they deserve.
